Producto / Mexican Coffee

Majomut Union was founded in 1983 in San Cristóbal de las Casas in Chiapas, Mexico as a group of farmer cooperatives with the goal of gaining independence from government organizations while marketing coffee.

Majomut Union has 1,200 members from the towns Tzotzil and Tzetzal that grow only Arabic coffee at an elevation of over 1,000 meters above sea level on volcanic earth, according to the local tradition that the coffee producers follow and respect.

About half of the coffee is produced following recognized environmental standards, which has achieved improved conditions of land conservation and a maximum quality of coffee. The coffee is also sold at a higher price thanks to Fair Trade, which reinvests in small farmers.
